Which glazing?

Double glazing is a must nowadays to keep a conservatory cosy all year round and low emissivity (Low-E) glass will cut heat loss even more.

Toughened glass is obligatory on all panes within 800mm of the floor in windows or walls and 1,500mm in doors and side panels. This effectively means every part of conservatory walls, but you can check by looking for the Safety Glazing Mark etched in the corner of each pane.

As well as being safer, toughened glass is more resistant to intruders but you can beef up the resistance even more with laminated glass. This has a tough plastic interlayer that cannot be penetrated even if the glass is broken. Wired glass has a similar effect but the wire may be unsightly.

Other options you can consider include solar control and self cleaning glasses, again Chipping Norton glass will be happy to advise you on such matters.
